Ophthalmology

Eye conditions come under the medical heading ophthalmology.

Such conditions can affect the eyelids, the cornea, the lens and retina.  A variety of equipment is required to fully assess the eye.

We have invested in advanced ophthalmological equipment including a Tonopen (a digital monitor that measures the intra-ocular pressure), a Slit lamp (a special light and lens instrument used to assess the cornea and look inside the eye) as well as an operating microscope (used during surgery of the eye and eyelid where detailed vision is essential.

Philip Hanlon has a keen interest in ophthalmology and has gained much experience over the years in this subject.  He is hoping to sit the examination for the RCVS Certificate in ophthalmology in the next few years.
