Can you help the Pet Blood Bank?

Milton Keynes Veterinary Group
We work very closely with Pet Blood Bank holding Pet Blood Donation sessions at our Stoke Road branch throughout the year.

The Pet Blood Bank are trying to raise money for a new van. This van is really needed to keep the Pet Blood Bank on the road and carry out the amazing work that they do to help save so many canines lives.

If you are able to help, then please use the link – https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/PBBvanappeal

Happy World Donor Day

Yesterday we celebrated World Blood Donor Day and our absolutely amazing blood donors.

We just want to thank them all and their humans for doing such a wonderful thing.

We have our amazing doggy donors who regularly donate to the Pet Blood Bank and also some fantastic feline donors who are always there when we need them!

The Pet Blood Bank made this lovely video from clips sent by owners of their wonderful doggy donors.

We would love to see pictures or videos of your happy heroes.

Happy World Blood Donor Day Everyone – You are amazing.
These may look like regular dogs… | World Blood Donor Day 2020

Happy World Blood Donor Day! 🩸 Today we’re celebrating World Blood Donor Day by saying a huge thank you to all of you and your wonderful dogs who donate blood! 🐶 You really do make such a huge difference. These are just some of the fantastic dogs who donate. They may look like regular dogs, running around and enjoying life, but these dogs have also helped to save lives 👏Could your dog be a lifesaver too? We are particularly appealing to certain breeds of dog who are more likely to have negative blood type to come forward as donors to help us. These breeds include Airedale Terriers, American Bulldogs, Border Collies, Boxers, Dobermans, Dogue de Bordeaux, English Bull Terriers, Flat Coated Retrievers, German Shepherds, Greyhounds, Lurchers, Old English Sheepdogs, Pointers, and Weimaraners. Dogs also need to weigh over 25kg, be between 1 and 8 years old, and be fit and healthy. To find our more and register your dog as a lifesaver, please visit our website www.petbloodbankuk.org. We’d also be so grateful if you shared this post to help us spread the word. Thank you ❤️

Could you dog be a lifesaver?

As most of you know, people can be blood donors – but did you know that dogs can be blood donors too?

The Pet Blood Bank is a charity that provides a canine blood bank service for all veterinary practices across the UK. Run as a voluntary scheme just like the human blood service, dogs from all over the country give blood at many of their sessions.
On Saturday 21th March at 10am, Milton Keynes Veterinary Group will be hosting our 18th Pet Blood Bank donor session at our branch at 7 Stoke Road, Bletchley, and we are calling out for more donors to register.
To fit the doggie donor criteria, your dog needs to be:
  • Fit and healthy
  • Between one and 8 years old
  • Weigh more than 25kg
  • Have a good temperament
  • Have never travelled abroad
  • Vaccinated
  • Not on any medication
For more information, or if you are interested in registering your pet to become a doggie blood donor, please contact the surgery on 01908 397777 and ask to speak to Jess, or register directly with Pet Blood Bank at www.petbloodbankuk.org
