Jess McCarthy
Jess McCarthy RVN – Head Receptionist
Jess qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2008, and joined the practice in October 2012. She has taken on the role of join Head Reception in May 2019. Jess helps to run our Pet Blood Bank sessions, recruiting donors and supporting them and their owners during sessions at our Stoke Road surgery. She also helps run Puppy Parties from our Willen surgery on a Wednesday evening, and keeps her nursing skills up to date looking after our laboratory at Walnut Tree on Fridays. She enjoys long dog walks with her Dobermann, Westwood.

Hannah Jefferies
Hannah Jefferies – Head Receptionist
Hannah has rejoined the practice after an eight year break, during which she had two daughters Sydney and Olivia. She had a cheeky kitty called CJ, a corn snake called Biscuit and a leopard gecko called Spotty. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and escaping for the odd weekend to let her inner geek come out for sci-fi conventions.

Jasmine Milsom

Jasmine qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1970 and joined our practice nursing team in 1976. When we opened the new Walnut Tree Hospital, she took on the role as Head Nurse at our Stoke Road branch for many years. Jasmine now works at our Walnut Tree branch as part of our reception team.

Liz Thorley
Liz Thornley
Liz has worked in the Veterinary industry for 13 years and the last 6 have been at Milton Keynes Veterinary Group. She has always loved animals and has 2 cats called Lilo and Stitch – named by her children years ago. She also has 2 Grand Pugs who she absolutely adores because they are so funny looking. In her spare time, she loves seeing films and live music whenever possible and spending time with her daughters who are all grown up now.

Janet has been working here since she moved to Milton Keynes in 2001. She loves meeting the clients – especially if they have a new puppy! She is the official reception puppy hugger! She has two Border collies of her own, and loves nothing better than a walk up the woods on a blustery day. She also has a little old cat called Ted. In her spare time, she goes caravanning with her husband and dogs, and spending time with her grand children.

Michelle is owned by crossbreed Dotty and Cocker Spaniel Norman! She also has rabbits and guinea pigs, and runs holiday boarding for rabbits and guinea pigs called Bunny Retreat. In her spare time, she loves arts & crafts, knitting, sewing and designing things.

Susie Davies
Susie Davis
Susie joined the reception team at MK Vet Group in August 2012 following her return to work after having her daughter. Prior to this, she worked for Vets Now Emergency for 18 months and has over 7 years experience in Animal Health. She has a house full of paws, 2 dogs, Ferdi and Schmee, and 2 cats, Honey and Princess. In her spare time (a rare event), she enjoys a good catch up and natter with her friends over a nice meal and a good wine!

Angie Eales

Angie has worked part-time at the Stony Stratford branch for over 35 years, originally with Ken Pitman when the branch was in a shed in his garden! When he retired, the practice was moved to Timor Court and she moved too. She has a great relationship with many of our longstanding clients. She has a farm just on the outskirts of Milton Keynes which keeps her busy. She also has children and grandchildren that take up the bit of her that’s left!

Bev Cook-Abbott

Bev has worked for the practice since 2000, and is mainly at the Stony Stratford and Whaddon Way branches. Although over 10 years, she has gained valuable experience as a nursing assistant at Walnut Tree Hospital. She now also helps Jess run the puppy parties at our Willen branch. Outside of work, she is a huge rugby fan and enjoys her garden, her 3 cats and likes to rehome old dogs (because they sleep a lot, can’t chase cats and don’t need long walks!). Bev also co-runs a voluntary group called Dog Squad MK where they help people find their lost dogs in Milton Keynes.

Lee joined the practice in November 1999 at the newly opened Veterinary Hospital at Walnut Tree and now works at our Stoke Road practice. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, reading and spending time with her daughter and a terrier cross called Teddy.

Nicole Spurr

Nicole has come to Walnut Tree from another veterinary practice in Leighton Buzzard where she lives, with her three dogs (Moya, Biddy and Pip), five cats, and her Husband Steve – who sometimes manages to get to see her! In her spare time, she likes to draw, read and walk the dogs. She is also a very lucky Granny with six Grandchildren too.

Ann has been involved in the vet industry on and off since the 70’s. Her life revolves around her three very spoiled cats, one of which was hand reared and thinks Ann is his slave. The love of her life is Dexter, a poodle cross who is like a teddy bear. She also haves a keen interest in tropical fish which she has collected for over 40 years now, and currently has a 500litre tank which keeps her busy.

Cathy was born and bred in Surrey and lived there until 2012 when she moved to Bedfordshire. She has worked in Veterinary practice, in various roles since 1977. Her 4 Irish Setters Luna, Lois, Kitty & Lottie are her pride and joy. When she is not working as a receptionist or dog walking, she loves spending time in her garden, growing her own vegetables and flowers. On rainy days, she prefers to be inside tracing her family history and is currently studying for a genealogy qualification.

Sophie Irwin

Sophie joined the Practice in February 2016. After being brought up on a farm, she is a real animal lover, and her mum has worked at the practice since 1976. She has a chocolate Labrador called Lola, a Hamster called Eric and a horse called Doodles, who all get very spoilt. In her spare time, she likes to go horse riding and spend lots of time with her friends and family. She now works part-time following the birth of her daughter.

Becca Marriott

Becca works at our Whaddon Way branch, as well as Walnut tree on Saturdays and has been with us since July 2017. Becca moved back to MK after living in Hemel Hempstead for 7 years where she volunteered for Cats Protection as a fosterer and helped to run the Branch. Becca lives with her partner and two children, and is owned by 4 cats named Binks, Obi, Willow and Neelix. Two rabbits named Gamora and Scarlet and Luna the white German Shepard, who is often at Whaddon Way with her. In her spare time, Becca is a big geek and loves anything Sci-Fi or Marvel/DC, as well as listening to Rock/Heavy metal music.

Laura joined the practice in January 2019 and has been around animals all her life growing up with a house full of furry and feathered friends and is a real animal lover. she has a dog called Silvey, a cat called Neo and 2 horses called April and Buddy. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her daughters Emily and Maisie and also enjoys horse riding and playing board games from her extensive collection!

Lindsay has had 10 years’ experience working in veterinary practices including 4 years in equine. Lindsay is firmly under the paw of Millie Mogs her grey tabby cat. In her spare time she enjoys riding, singing & dancing Lindy Hop with her partner Andy.

Julie Charlesworth

Julie joined the practice in June 2019 working at the newly opened Stony Stratford branch. She worked in the same building when it was Castles Store for 30yrs. This is a career change for Julie who hopes to do well. She said how nice it is to see people she knew from her previous job who are clients at MKVG. Although she doesn’t currently have any pets, she loves animals and enjoys giving the puppies cuddles.

Alex Bone

Alex started working for MKVG in November 2019 after finishing her A-levels in the summer. She is an animal lover and wants to take absolutely everything that comes in home with her! Which is why she has recently taken on a beautiful whippet puppy called Kiwi. She also has a gorgeous terrier called Scrappy and not to forget Diva, her horse, who is very aptly named. In her spare time she loves to cycle, go to the gym and just generally keep fit and active. Alex’s mum is also one of the Veterinary Nurses at MKVG.

Amber has grown up with various animals including dogs, fish, gerbils and a tortoise. She is currently studying at college and plans to train as a veterinary nurse in the future. In her spare time she takes ballet classes and spends time with her family.

Judy Ammon

Judy retired from the position as Practice Manager at the end of 2011 but continues to return to assist with reception and admin duties.
