We are thanking our pets during Mental Health Awareness Week 2020
1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime and the Veterinary profession has a high number of individuals who struggle with their mental health due to the nature of their job. Compassion fatigue and burnout can occur in Veterinary professionals as the high level of emotion, care and love that goes in to treating your pets can certainly take its toll.
More than ever, during this uncertain time, we encourage individuals to #BeKind and take the time to ask somebody ‘How are you today?’ In order to keep caring for your pets in the best way possible, our team needs to be both physically and emotionally healthy.
Out pets can provide a loving and non-judgemental ear to listen to our problems and often, offer much needed comfort. There are also some fantastic organisations such as VetLife, designed specifically for veterinary professionals and Samaritans who can provide any help you may need during this time.
